Why the weird names?

That is why ;o)

New pedals entering boxed prototype status

We’ve been working hard on redesigning our most popular pedals.
They will still sound the same, but the demand has been so overwhelming, that we had to reconsider the whole production-line to keep up.

In the proces of redesign, we also developed 3 new overdrive pedals. Those have until now been just a pcb with knobs and wires. But today, we’ve ordered the finished pcb’s and will have a few prototypes made for testing, before putting the pedals into final production.

StinkBug
We wanted to make a great ‘classic’ overdrive, that have the best of whats out there, but keeps the body and character of the guitar intact.

We worked really hard on getting the mids to respond well, and the highs and lows to be right for blues rock and pop. We also chose a circuit that have a particularly nice warmth to it.

The low and high controls gives a great control of the amount of mids in the pedal. Turn them both down, and the midrange comes out, but without being nasal. Turn them up, and the mids gets slightly scooped, still keeping the sound full and punchy.

This pedal works great for blues, pop and rock. It sings well and has great midrange respons.

PisdiYAUwot
One thing we think that noone has really nailed yet, is a great pedal for metal. Most of them seems to be either too muddy or to slow for the really fast riffs. We thought that we needed to build a pedal, that had a low end punch that resembles beating sheet metal with a big hammer. We also wanted a pedal that was able to scoop the mids the Dimebag way and to push up the mids the NuMetal way. Full mids with body that is.

We worked really really hard on achieving this, and we’ve done stuff that noene has done before in a distortion pedal, doing things that are considered politically incorrect, in engineering terms. But we did it anyway - why? Because it worked! We don’t care about specs and fine numbers. We care about music and musicians. Because we are musicians ourselves, we know what you guys are talking about.

We absolutely think we got this one right. It kicks major butt, and have surprised everyone we played it for. If you are into metal or at least into heavy riffing rock, this is a must hear. I’m not a metalplayer myself, but I have to have my daily fix of the PisdiYAUwot.

By the way, the name PisdiYAUwot. What does it mean Angus Podgorny? It sort of means a ‘contraption’ - with the difference that this is a contraption that actually does work!

Leyenda
The Leyenda is a bit of a scitzoid. Keeping the gain low, gives you a full bodied blues amp style chrunch. But turning it up, it suddently transforms into a AC/DC like rock cut through distortion. It is as if it changes personallity.

We were a bit surprised by this sideeffect, but chose to keep it for one simple reason: It sounds awesome! So its sort of a two in one kind of beast.

It will work really well for blues rock guitarplayers, that likes to push through a mix or live, beating chords, or for straight up blues. It comes with both high and low pots, making it possible to shape ones sound perfectly.

No matter i you play SG’s, Strats, Tele’s or Les Pauls, this is a dynamic sidekick, that makes your notes stand out.

The pedals are now going into the final prototype fase and will go into full production (if nothing goes wrong) in august/september.

We are looking forward to getting these ourselves.

Ole Skipper Moesgaard goes double BOB

Danish Jazz-Fusion (and everything else) Bass player Ole Skipper Moesgaard, plays Emma's DiscumBOBulator(S), He loves the Bob so much that he wanted two. We supplied him with grey knobs for one of the BOB's, so he can differentiate between them.

PisdiYAUwot
At Emma Electronic we just finished developing a pedal for Metal. We really gave it a lot of thought, and through the years we've collected a lot of experience on the needs of metal guitar players. We have put all that experience in this pedal, which is specifically aimed at metal. You could probably use it for other styles as well, but we made it for metal. Surprisingly it also works well for bass. The PisdiYAUwot will be in stores late summer 2008.

But what about the name - In the Danish language there are a lot of names for a thing without a name or a thing you don't know the name of. In English you'd call it a 'thing' or a 'thingy' - In Danish you can call it: 'Dippedut, duppedit, dingenot, himstregimst' and so on - in southern jutland of Denmark, You call a thingy a Pisdiyauwot, which means a contraption of some sort. So there you go - PisdiYAUwot is a contraption for Metal!
